The cable is long enough at 2 mtrs to use items while charging. The collar at the micro usb lights up red when charging and blue when charged. The light given off is not intrusive and is well pitched between being able to see in daylight and not being to bright when used in a bedroom. I have had one of these cables for over a year and works fine, this one was bought for my wife who wanted longer cable than one provided with her phone.
